Drug intelligence / Profile preview
*Ganoderma lucidum* methanol extract is a solvent-based preparation derived from the medicinal mushroom *Ganoderma lucidum*, commonly known as Lingzhi or Reishi. This extract is characterized by a high concentration of bioactive secondary metabolites, including triterpenoids and phenolic compounds such as vanillic acid, gallic acid, and (-)-epicatechin. Research indicates that the methanol extract possesses potent antineoplastic properties, demonstrating significant cytotoxicity against breast cancer cell lines (e.g., MCF-7). Its mechanism of action involves the induction of G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest and the promotion of apoptosis. At the molecular level, it has been shown to downregulate the expression of genes involved in energy metabolism and epigenetic modification, specifically ACAT1, ADCY3, and NME2, thereby impairing cancer cell proliferation and survival.
