This therapeutic regimen is a combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of osteosarcoma following surgical resection. It consists of **Ganoderma lucidum spore powder**, a natural botanical product, administered alongside conventional chemotherapy agents **doxorubicin** and **cisplatin**. Ganoderma lucidum spore powder contains active triterpenoids and polysaccharides that are thought to regulate the tumor immune microenvironment and inhibit growth and metastasis. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline that works by intercalating DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, while cisplatin is a platinum-based agent that forms DNA cross-links, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. The combination is currently being studied in a Phase II clinical trial sponsored by the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, to improve the 5-year survival rate and prognosis of osteosarcoma patients.
