Ganoderma spore lipids refer to the lipid (oil) fraction extracted from the spores of Ganoderma lucidum, a medicinal mushroom also known as Lingzhi or Reishi. The primary bioactive components are unsaturated fatty acids and triterpenoids. These compounds have demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and hepatoprotective properties in preclinical and clinical studies. Mechanistically, Ganoderma spore lipids modulate immune responses by enhancing natural killer cell cytotoxicity and macrophage phagocytosis[1][5], regulate lipid metabolism (notably lowering total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C while raising HDL-C), and protect against liver injury[6][8]. Clinical trials indicate efficacy in improving dyslipidemia with a favorable safety profile[6][8]. Additional research suggests potential benefits for cancer-related fatigue (as an adjunct), immune modulation during chemotherapy[10], neuroprotection against retinal apoptosis[5], and possible roles in metabolic syndrome.
