Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganodex is a topical immunomodulatory cream developed by GlycaNova AS for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. The active ingredient is a high-purity, triple-helix (1,3/1,6)-beta-D-glucan extracted from the *Ganoderma lucidum* mushroom using a proprietary process. This beta-glucan acts as an agonist for the Dectin-1 receptor (CLEC7A) on macrophages and dendritic cells within the skin, modulating the local immune response and inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. By promoting skin barrier repair and reducing inflammation without the use of steroids, Ganodex serves as a long-term management option for chronic dermatological conditions. It is typically classified as a medical device in various jurisdictions, including the European Union.
