Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ganshao is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Jilin Tianyao Technology, primarily indicated for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. It is typically administered as a capsule and is composed of extracts from *Paeonia lactiflora* (White Peony) and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Licorice). The therapeutic effect is derived from the synergistic interaction of its active constituents, such as paeoniflorin and glycyrrhizic acid, which exhibit antispasmodic and analgesic properties. These components work to relax uterine smooth muscle and modulate inflammatory pathways, thereby alleviating the pain and cramping associated with menstruation. The formulation is based on the classical TCM pairing known as Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang.
