garcinia gardneriana extract

Garcinia gardneriana extract is a botanical extract derived from the leaves and fruits of Garcinia gardneriana (Planchon & Triana) Zappi., a tree species from the Clusiaceae family native to Brazil. The extract is used in Brazilian traditional medicine for treatment of pain, arthritis, inflammation, and various skin disorders. The extract contains multiple bioactive compounds including **biflavonoids** (volkensiflavone, fukugetin, fukugeside, GB-2a), **xanthones** (prenylated and tetrahydroxy variants), **triterpenes** (lupeol, oleanolic acid), **phytosterols** (sitosterol, stigmasterol), **sesquiterpenes** (α-copaene, α-muurolene, γ-cadinene, α-cedrene), **flavonoids** (epicatechin, vitexin, isovitexin), **hydroxycitric acid lactone**, and **benzophenones** (7-epiclusianone, garciniaphenone). Different extraction methods (hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol, aqueous) yield varying compositions and biological activities. The extract has demonstrated multiple biological activities in preclinical studies including antifungal effects against *Hemileia vastatrix*, phytotoxic activity, acetylcholinesterase inhibition, anti-inflammatory properties, antiproliferative activity against cancer cells, antioxidant potential, and effects on metabolic parameters in high-fat diet models.
