Garden snail mucin is a complex biological extract derived from the garden snail species *Cryptomphalus aspersa* (also known as *Helix aspersa*). Primarily utilized in the cosmetic industry, particularly in South Korean beauty products, it is valued for its moisturizing, anti-aging, and regenerative properties. The mucin contains a variety of active components, including hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, allantoin, antimicrobial peptides, and vitamins A and E. While not an approved pharmaceutical drug, clinical research has investigated its efficacy in treating acute radiodermatitis, enhancing wound healing, and serving as a mucoadhesive agent in drug delivery systems. Its mechanism involves antioxidant activity, free radical scavenging, and the promotion of fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix assembly.
