Overview
Gardisan is a quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine developed by the Barkat Health & Pharmaceutical Group, a subsidiary of the Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order (EIKO). It is designed as a biosimilar to Merck's Gardasil, targeting HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The vaccine utilizes recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) of the L1 capsid protein to induce a protective immune response against HPV infection, which is a primary cause of cervical cancer and genital warts. Gardisan was developed to enhance domestic vaccine production in Iran and received approval from the Iranian Food and Drug Administration for the prevention of HPV-related diseases.
