GarlicRich

GarlicRich is a standardized 10:1 garlic concentrate developed and manufactured by Natural Factors, with the trademark held by InovoBiologic. Produced using the proprietary EnviroSimplex process, it is derived from non-GMO, pesticide-free *Allium sativum* bulbs and standardized to maintain high levels of organosulfur compounds, including alliin, allicin, and gamma-glutamylcysteines. While primarily marketed as a dietary supplement for cardiovascular health (reduction of cholesterol and blood pressure) and immune support, it has also been investigated as a topical therapeutic. Specifically, a topical gel formulation of GarlicRich was studied for the treatment of pediatric alopecia areata, hypothesized to exert immunomodulatory effects; however, clinical trials for this indication were terminated. The product's mechanism of action is largely attributed to allicin, which reacts with thiol (sulfhydryl) groups on target enzymes such as HMG-CoA reductase and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), and exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
