Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gasteo is a traditional herbal medicinal product (THMP) developed and manufactured by the German company Cesra Arzneimittel. It is formulated as oral drops containing a combination of six liquid herbal extracts: goose cinquefoil (Potentilla anserina), chamomile flowers (Matricaria chamomilla), licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra), angelica root (Angelica archangelica), Benedictine herb (Cnicus benedictus), and wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). Gasteo is primarily indicated for the relief of mild gastrointestinal complaints, including bloating, flatulence, and mild abdominal cramps. Its therapeutic effect is attributed to the synergistic combination of spasmolytic (antispasmodic), anti-inflammatory, and carminative properties of its botanical components, which help to relax the smooth muscles of the digestive tract and alleviate digestive discomfort.
