Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gastrap Direct is an orally administered, fixed-combination gastrointestinal medical-nutrition and Class IIa medical-device product developed from KitoZyme-derived chitin-glucan and simethicone. BK001 is intended for symptomatic management of gas-related gastrointestinal disorders, including bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and disturbed intestinal transit; it has been studied in irritable bowel syndrome. Simethicone provides a local antifoaming effect that facilitates gas elimination, while the chitin-glucan component is intended to improve stool characteristics and support restoration of a balanced intestinal microbiota. A prospective open-label multicenter study of the product in IBS reported improvements in abdominal pain, bloating, abdominal distension, and stool consistency.
