Overview

Gastrazole is a **potent and selective antagonist of the cholecystokinin 2 (CCK2)/gastrin receptor**. It was evaluated as an anticancer agent, particularly in advanced **pancreatic cancer**, where gastrin signaling can promote tumor growth. Clinical trials investigated its effect in patients with inoperable pancreatic carcinoma, showing mild toxicity and some survival benefit compared to placebo, but no advantage over 5-fluorouracil. Gastrazole is distinct from similarly-named products containing rabeprazole in some markets.
