Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gastricholan L is an over-the-counter (OTC) herbal oral liquid preparation developed and marketed by Südmedica GmbH for the treatment of digestive complaints. It is a phytopharmaceutical containing a combination of tinctures derived from peppermint leaves (*Mentha x piperita*), bitter fennel (*Foeniculum vulgare*), and chamomile flowers (*Matricaria chamomilla*) in a specific ratio (5.8:6.4:7.9), extracted using 34% ethanol. The preparation works by relaxing the smooth musculature of the gastrointestinal tract (spasmolytic effect) and promoting digestive activity. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of dyspeptic complaints, particularly those associated with mild gastrointestinal cramps, bloating, and feelings of fullness. Gastricholan L is approved and available in Germany through pharmacies without a prescription.
