Overview

Gastrin-SiO2 refers to a pharmaceutical formulation in which the peptide hormone gastrin is encapsulated or adsorbed onto silica (silicon dioxide) microspheres. This combination leverages the biological activity of gastrin—a hormone that stimulates gastric acid secretion and promotes gastrointestinal motility—while using silica microspheres as a delivery vehicle to potentially enhance stability, control release, or target delivery within the body. Gastrin acts primarily by binding to cholecystokinin B receptors on parietal and enterochromaffin-like cells in the stomach, leading to increased gastric acid secretion and other digestive effects[4][1]. The use of SiO2 (silica) as a carrier may be intended for improved pharmacokinetics or targeted therapy applications.
