Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gastrinal HD is an over-the-counter antacid and antiflatulent combination medication developed and manufactured by PT. Meprofarm Pharmaceutical Industries. It is primarily used to alleviate symptoms associated with gastric hyperacidity, such as heartburn, bloating, and indigestion, as well as conditions like gastritis and peptic ulcers. The formulation typically contains hydrotalcite (a magnesium-aluminum carbonate hydrate), magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone. Hydrotalcite and magnesium hydroxide act as antacids by neutralizing gastric acid, thereby increasing the pH of the stomach contents. Simethicone acts as an antiflatulent by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the digestive tract, allowing them to be more easily expelled.
