Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gastrotuss is a CE-marked medical device in syrup form developed by DMG Italia SRL for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux (GER) and pharyngolaryngeal reflux. Its primary active ingredient is magnesium alginate, which, in the acidic environment of the stomach, forms a mechanical gel barrier (raft) on the surface of gastric contents to physically prevent the reflux of gastric material into the esophagus and pharynx. The formulation also contains simethicone to reduce gas and other excipients such as D-panthenol and plant extracts. It is used to relieve symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation, cough, and dysphonia, and has been clinically evaluated in pediatric populations, specifically infants under one year of age.
