Overview

GAT@F is a cascade catalytic nanoenzyme hydrogel complex developed by researchers at The First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China for the treatment of diabetic wounds. The acronym GAT@F represents its primary active components: **G**lucose oxidase (GOx), **A**u (gold) nanoparticles, and **T**annic acid (TA) integrated with an iron-based framework or nanoparticle carrier (typically **F**e3O4). The therapeutic mechanism involves a cascade reaction where GOx consumes local glucose to produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which is then converted by the Au and Fe nanoenzymes into oxygen (O2) to alleviate wound hypoxia and reactive oxygen species (ROS) to provide antibacterial effects. Tannic acid contributes additional antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. This multi-functional approach aims to regulate the diabetic wound microenvironment, reduce oxidative stress, and promote tissue regeneration in chronic ulcers.
