Overview

GB-2001 is a long-acting veterinary drug candidate developed by G2G Bio for chemical castration in animals. It is formulated as a sustained-release injection using G2G Bio's proprietary InnoLAMP (Innovative Long-Acting MicroParticle) technology, which utilizes biodegradable polymer microspheres to provide a therapeutic duration of six months. The drug contains a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, likely leuprolide acetate, which works by continuously stimulating the GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This continuous stimulation leads to receptor downregulation and a subsequent decrease in the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), effectively suppressing the production of sex steroids (testosterone in males) to achieve non-surgical castration.
