Overview

GB-5112 is a long-acting, sustained-release injectable formulation of rivastigmine being developed by G2G Bio for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease dementia. Utilizing G2G Bio's proprietary Innovative Long-Acting Microsphere Platform (InnoLAMP) technology, the drug is encapsulated in biodegradable PLGA microspheres to provide continuous therapeutic levels of rivastigmine over an extended period, potentially up to six months, from a single subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. Rivastigmine acts as a reversible, dual inhibitor of both acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), thereby increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain to improve cognitive function. This formulation is designed to improve patient compliance and reduce the gastrointestinal and skin-related side effects associated with daily oral or transdermal patch administrations.
