GB-6201 is a long-acting, sustained-release injectable formulation of dutasteride developed by G2G Bio for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness). Utilizing G2G Bio's proprietary InnoLAMP (Innovative Long-Acting MicroParticle) technology, the drug is encapsulated in PLGA (poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)) microspheres to provide controlled therapeutic levels of dutasteride for one to three months from a single injection. Dutasteride is a dual inhibitor of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase (types 1 and 2), which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the primary hormone implicated in hair follicle miniaturization. By significantly reducing DHT levels in the scalp and serum, GB-6201 aims to arrest hair loss and promote regrowth. This injectable format is intended to improve patient adherence compared to daily oral medications and potentially minimize systemic side effects.
