Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GB-7101 is a long-acting injectable formulation of leuprorelin acetate, a synthetic nonapeptide and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor agonist, developed by G2G Bio for the treatment of prostate cancer. The drug utilizes G2G Bio's proprietary InnoLamp (Innovative Long-Acting MicroParticle) technology, which encapsulates the active ingredient in biodegradable microspheres to provide sustained therapeutic levels over one-month (1M) or three-month (3M) intervals. Upon administration, leuprorelin initially stimulates the pituitary GnRH receptors, causing a transient increase in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). However, continuous exposure leads to the downregulation and desensitization of these receptors, resulting in a profound suppression of LH and FSH secretion. This subsequently reduces serum testosterone to castrate levels, thereby inhibiting the growth of androgen-sensitive prostate cancer cells.
