Overview
GB-AOS6 is a preclinical-stage antimicrobial candidate developed by GlycosBio using its proprietary Activated Oil System (AOS) platform. The AOS technology utilizes specific lipid-based formulations, often derived from "activated" fatty acids, which demonstrate potent bactericidal activity against Gram-positive pathogens. GB-AOS6 is specifically being developed for the treatment of Strep throat (infections caused by Group A Streptococcus). The mechanism of action involves the disruption of the bacterial cell membrane, leading to rapid lysis of the pathogen without the high risk of resistance associated with traditional antibiotics.
