Overview

GB301 is a recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) developed by VTR Biotech, currently being investigated for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. As a biosimilar candidate of filgrastim, GB301 functions as an agonist of the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor receptor (G-CSFR). In neurodegenerative contexts, G-CSF is hypothesized to provide therapeutic benefits by crossing the blood-brain barrier to promote neurogenesis, inhibit neuronal apoptosis, and mobilize hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow to the brain. These mobilized cells may assist in the clearance of amyloid-beta plaques and help modulate the neuroinflammatory environment. A Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT03944824) has been conducted to assess the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of GB301 following intravenous administration in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
