GBP510 is a recombinant protein nanoparticle vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It consists of self-assembling nanoparticles that display 60 copies of the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in a highly immunogenic array. The vaccine is typically adjuvanted with AS03 to enhance immune response, and it can also be formulated with alum as an adjuvant. Unlike traditional subunit vaccines, GBP510’s nanoparticle structure allows for multivalent antigen presentation, leading to strong neutralizing antibody responses and delayed degradation in vivo. Clinical trials have shown that two doses of GBP510/AS03 induce robust neutralizing antibody titers and are well tolerated among adults aged 18 years and older. The vaccine has demonstrated superiority in immunogenicity compared to ChAdOx1-S (AstraZeneca’s Vaxzevria) and has been approved under the brand name SKYCovione in South Korea[1][5][6][7][8].
