Overview
This drug entry refers to the concomitant administration of Pfizer's investigational hexavalent Group B Streptococcus (GBS6) conjugate vaccine and a standard tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine. GBS6 (PF-06760805) is a multivalent vaccine designed to prevent invasive GBS disease in newborns through maternal immunization. It consists of capsular polysaccharides from six GBS serotypes (Ia, Ib, II, III, IV, and V), each individually conjugated to a CRM197 carrier protein. The Tdap component is a trivalent vaccine providing protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis using toxoids and purified bacterial proteins. The co-administration is being evaluated in clinical trials to ensure that the safety and immunogenicity of both vaccines are maintained when given together, which is a critical step for implementing GBS vaccination during pregnancy alongside existing maternal immunization recommendations.
