Overview

GBT009 is an allogeneic cell therapy product composed of adult bone marrow-derived cells, developed by Garnet BioTherapeutics. It was designed to improve the appearance of surgical scars and enhance wound healing. The therapy is administered via intradermal injections along the edges of full-thickness surgical incisions. The mechanism of action involves the cells' ability to modulate the local wound environment, reducing inflammation and promoting regenerative processes over fibrotic scarring. Clinical development reached Phase 2 for the treatment of incisional wounds following breast reconstruction surgery, but the program appears to have stalled as the sponsor is no longer active.
