GC Fuji IX GP is a conventional self-curing glass ionomer restorative material primarily used in dentistry for posterior restorations. It is designed as an alternative to amalgam and composite materials and is especially suitable for geriatric and pediatric patients. The product chemically bonds to tooth structure without the need for etching or bonding agents and releases significant levels of rechargeable fluoride, contributing to internal remineralization of the tooth. Its strontium-based formulation provides high compressive and flexural strength with excellent wear resistance—about 60% higher than conventional glass ionomers. The material has a tooth-like coefficient of thermal expansion and good radiopacity. Indications include Class I and II restorations in deciduous teeth, non-load bearing Class I/II restorations in permanent teeth, core build-up material, intermediate restorative (IRM), long-term temporary restoration, transitional restoration using ART (Atraumatic Restorative Treatment) technique, base under other materials (sandwich technique), root surface restorations (Class V), and final restoration in non-stress areas[1][2][3][6][8].
