Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GC01 gel is a 24-amino acid peptide therapeutic candidate developed by GlioCure, specifically designed for the local treatment of resectable glioblastoma (GBM). The peptide targets the C-terminal domain of βIII-tubulin (TUBB3), a microtubule component frequently overexpressed in aggressive glioma cells and glioblastoma stem cells. By binding to this site, GC01 inhibits tubulin polymerization, leading to the disruption of mitotic spindle formation and subsequent inhibition of tumor cell division. Beyond its anti-mitotic activity, GC01 is reported to exhibit neuroprotective properties. The gel formulation is intended for administration into the resection cavity following surgical removal of the primary tumor as a first-line therapy to eliminate residual infiltrating cells and prevent recurrence.
