Overview

GC4702 is a small molecule superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic developed by Galera Therapeutics. It acts as a modulator of extracellular superoxide dismutase (SOD3), an enzyme that protects the extracellular space from the toxic effects of reactive oxygen intermediates by converting superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. The drug has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics when administered orally in healthy volunteers. The study compared oral formulations of GC4702 with intravenous administration of another SOD mimetic, GC4419. As of now, there are no approved indications or FDA designations for this compound[1][2][4][6].
