Overview

GCC2005 is an allogeneic cell therapy product developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory NK and T-cell malignancies, particularly T-cell lymphomas. It is manufactured using umbilical cord blood–derived natural killer (NK) cells that are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the CD5 marker, which is highly expressed on T-cell lymphomas. In addition to the CAR, these NK cells co-express interleukin-15 (IL-15), enhancing their persistence and anti-tumor efficacy—a key limitation in conventional NK cell therapies. The product is ex-vivo expanded and cryopreserved with high purity (>99% NK cells) and high CAR expression (>90%). Preclinical studies have demonstrated superior direct-killing efficacy against CD5+ tumor cells compared to donor-matched conventional cord blood NK cells, as well as increased cytokine release (IFN-γ and IL-15) upon engagement with target tumor cells. In vivo models showed improved survival rates and long-term persistence of the modified NK cells. GCC2005 represents a promising off-the-shelf therapeutic option for aggressive T-cell malignancies with limited existing treatments[1][2][3][4][5].
