Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GD-11 is a novel small molecule drug under development for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It is designed as a targeted neuroprotectant, specifically developed to cross the blood-brain barrier and target GLUT3, a glucose transporter highly expressed in neurons. Preclinical studies indicate that after intravenous infusion, brain concentrations of GD-11 are significantly higher than those achieved with edaravone, suggesting enhanced neuroprotective potential. The drug may exert its effects through both its native form and metabolic derivatives related to edaravone. Clinical trials have evaluated intravenous administration of GD-11 in patients with acute ischemic stroke within 48 hours of onset[2][3][5][6].
