Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GD-19 is a small molecule drug candidate currently in preclinical development by Gudui BioPharma for the treatment of pain. It acts as a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that plays a critical role in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, which are key mediators of inflammation and pain signaling. By specifically targeting the COX-2 isoform while avoiding significant inhibition of COX-1, GD-19 aims to provide effective analgesia with a reduced risk of the gastrointestinal and renal side effects typically associated with non-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
