GD-25 is a preclinical small molecule inhibitor developed by Gudui BioPharma. It specifically targets the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav 1.8 (encoded by the SCN10A gene). Nav 1.8 is primarily expressed in peripheral sensory neurons (nociceptors) and plays a critical role in the transmission of pain signals. By selectively blocking Nav 1.8, GD-25 aims to provide potent analgesia for acute pain while minimizing the central nervous system and cardiovascular side effects often associated with non-selective sodium channel blockers or opioids.
