GD001 (also known as GD-iExo-001) is an investigational exosome-based therapy derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), developed by the Plastic Surgery Hospital at the Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. It is designed to facilitate scarless wound healing and prevent the recurrence of pathological scars, such as hypertrophic scars and keloids, following surgical excision. As a cell-free regenerative medicine product, GD001 utilizes the paracrine signaling capacity of iPSC-derived exosomes to deliver a cargo of proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids to the wound microenvironment. These components are intended to modulate the inflammatory response, inhibit excessive fibroblast proliferation, and promote organized extracellular matrix remodeling, thereby improving scar quality and reducing fibrotic outcomes.
