Overview

GD002 is an investigational exosome-based therapy administered via nasal spray for the treatment of Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS). Developed by The First Medical Centre of the Chinese PLA General Hospital, GD002 consists of extracellular vesicles designed to deliver therapeutic cargo directly to the central nervous system by bypassing the blood-brain barrier through intranasal instillation. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a clinical trial for pediatric patients who have not responded to standard treatments, including adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and vigabatrin, with the aim of improving seizure control and neurodevelopmental outcomes through potential neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
