Overview

GD134 is a preclinical-stage small molecule being developed by Griffin Discoveries for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis. It acts as a dual antagonist of the histamine H1 receptor (H1R) and the histamine H4 receptor (H4R). While traditional antihistamines primarily target H1R to manage acute symptoms like itching and redness, the inclusion of H4R antagonism allows GD134 to also address the underlying inflammatory processes and immune cell recruitment associated with the late-phase allergic response. This dual-action approach is intended to provide superior efficacy compared to single-target H1R antagonists by inhibiting both the immediate allergic reaction and the subsequent chronic inflammation.
