GD2-CAR iNK cells are an experimental off-the-shelf cellular immunotherapy consisting of natural killer (NK) cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the ganglioside GD2. Developed by researchers at Seoul National University Hospital, this therapy leverages the innate cytotoxic potential of NK cells and the scalability of iPSC technology to create a standardized treatment for GD2-positive malignancies, such as glioblastoma. The CAR construct enables specific recognition and lysis of tumor cells expressing GD2, a surface antigen frequently overexpressed in neuroectodermal tumors. Preclinical studies in glioblastoma models have demonstrated significant antitumor activity and a favorable safety profile, suggesting potential as a versatile immunotherapeutic strategy.
