GE11 serves primarily as an active targeting agent to enable the selective delivery of chemotherapeutics, imaging agents, or combined therapeutics to cancers such as breast, ovarian, and liver tumors that exhibit elevated EGFR levels[1][2][3][5]. The peptide has been conjugated to various carriers, including liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, micelles, and nanogels, for delivery of drugs such as doxorubicin, docetaxel, salinomycin, and siRNA, where it increases cellular uptake, therapeutic efficacy, and reduces off-target toxicity[1][2][3][5].
