Overview

GE8820 is a bifunctional biologic drug developed by GlycoEra AG for the selective degradation of pathogenic IgG4 autoantibodies. It operates as an extracellular protein degrader, binding specifically to human IgG4 and directing it to hepatocytes via engagement with the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) on liver cells, leading to rapid and near-complete removal of circulating IgG4 antibodies. This mechanism allows for targeted depletion of disease-driving autoantibodies without broad immunosuppression, offering potential advantages over existing therapies in terms of safety and selectivity. GE8820 is being developed primarily for autoimmune diseases where pathogenic IgG4 plays a central role, such as primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), pemphigus vulgaris, muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) myasthenia gravis, and other IgG4-mediated conditions[1][2][5][6][7].
