Overview

GEAR (Gene Edited Antibody Resistant) cell therapy is a platform for developing allogeneic and autologous cell therapies, primarily focusing on natural killer (NK) cells (GEAR-NK). Developed by VyGen-Bio and licensed to Coeptis Therapeutics, the technology involves genetically engineering cells to be resistant to specific monoclonal antibodies. This precision shielding allows the GEAR-NK cells to be co-administered with targeted monoclonal antibody therapies without being targeted or destroyed by them, potentially enhancing the efficacy of combination treatments in hematological malignancies and solid tumors. The cells are typically derived from umbilical cord blood CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells.
