Gegleucel is an allogeneic memory natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed by Ingenium Therapeutics for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy utilizes "cytokine-induced memory-like" (CIML) NK cells, which are generated by pre-activating donor-derived NK cells with a specific combination of cytokines, typically IL-12, IL-15, and IL-18. This ex vivo activation endows the NK cells with enhanced effector functions, including increased proliferative capacity, superior production of interferon-gamma, and improved persistence in the host compared to conventional NK cells. Gegleucel is designed to mediate potent anti-leukemia cytotoxicity to eliminate residual disease and prevent relapse in patients with hematologic malignancies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for AML.
