Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The gel vehicle is an inactive topical formulation developed by LEO Pharma to serve as a placebo control in clinical trials, specifically the Phase 3 PSO-ABLE study. It contains the same excipients as the active calcipotriol plus betamethasone dipropionate gel but lacks the active pharmaceutical ingredients. It was used to evaluate the relative efficacy and safety of LEO 90100 (Enstilar) aerosol foam against the standard gel formulation in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. As a vehicle control, it allows researchers to distinguish the therapeutic effects of the active ingredients from the effects of the gel formulation itself.
