This is a gelatin-free live attenuated varicella vaccine developed for the prevention of chickenpox (varicella) in children. Developed or evaluated by the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the vaccine contains a live attenuated strain of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The primary distinction of this formulation is the absence of gelatin, which is a common stabilizer in vaccines but can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. By removing gelatin, the vaccine provides a safer alternative for children with known gelatin allergies. It is typically administered via subcutaneous injection and has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials to compare its safety and immunogenicity against traditional gelatin-containing varicella vaccines in healthy children aged 1 to 12 years.
