Gellic

Gellic (formerly marketed as Gleitgelen) is a topical vaginal gel developed and manufactured by the Austrian pharmaceutical company Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit. It is primarily indicated for the management of vaginal dryness and associated symptoms such as itching, burning, and pain. The product is a water-based, hormone-free lubricant that contains chlorhexidine dihydrochloride (0.1 mg per 1 g of gel) as an active antiseptic ingredient. Gellic functions mechanically to increase the lubricity of the vaginal mucous membrane and acts as a moisturizer, while the inclusion of chlorhexidine provides local antibacterial protection. It is compatible with latex condoms and is free from fats, parabens, and hormones. Although it contains a pharmaceutical active, it is classified as a medical device in various markets due to its primary mechanical mode of action.
