Overview
gelofusine + ringer lactate is a fluid resuscitation combination used in a clinical trial conducted by the Università degli Studi di Ferrara. The regimen consists of a 1:2 ratio of Gelofusine (a 4% succinylated gelatin colloid solution) and Ringer's Lactate (a balanced crystalloid solution). This combination is designed for intravascular volume expansion and maintenance of hemodynamic stability in patients undergoing major elective surgeries, such as abdominal, thoracic, or vascular procedures. The study specifically investigated how this colloid-crystalloid mix affects respiratory mechanics and oxygenation compared to crystalloid therapy alone, aiming to mitigate the potential negative impacts of large fluid volumes on lung parenchyma.
