Overview

Gelol is a topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication indicated for the relief of muscle pain, bruises, sprains, joint pain, neuralgia, torticollis, contusions, and rheumatic conditions. Its active ingredients include menthol, methyl salicylate, and camphor. When applied to the skin, Gelol works by promoting analgesia (pain relief) and hyperemia (increased blood flow) at the affected site. Menthol contributes to a cooling sensation and acts as a counter-irritant by stimulating and then desensitizing nociceptors, primarily through the activation of TRPM8 channels. Methyl salicylate provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, characteristic of salicylates, while camphor also acts as a counter-irritant and local analgesic. The product is available in various formulations, including gel, ointment, and aerosol spray, for dermatological application.
