Gelsectan

Gelsectan is a multi-ingredient therapeutic product, classified as a medical device, designed to restore intestinal barrier function and protect the gut mucosa in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), particularly the diarrhea-predominant phenotype (IBS-D). It contains xyloglucan, a tamarind-derived polysaccharide that acts as a mucoprotectant by forming a physical film over the intestinal epithelium to prevent the adhesion of pathogens and toxins. This effect is reinforced by pea protein and grape seed extract, which help stabilize the protective barrier. Additionally, the formulation includes xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), which serve as a prebiotic to promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.
