Gelsolin neutralizing antibody is an experimental biologic agent designed to bind and inhibit the activity of gelsolin (GSN), an actin-binding protein that regulates cytoskeleton dynamics. In oncological research, particularly in cervical carcinoma, gelsolin overexpression is associated with increased cell migration and poor prognosis. By neutralizing extracellular or cytoplasmic gelsolin, these antibodies aim to reduce the metastatic potential of tumor cells by preventing actin filament rearrangement and cell motility. Research indicates that inhibiting gelsolin can significantly decrease the migration of HeLa cells in vitro, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for preventing cancer recurrence and metastasis.
