Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GelStor is a bio-inspired, polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based hydrogel platform developed by GelMedix for the sustained delivery of ophthalmic therapeutics. The technology is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional eye drops, such as poor patient compliance and low bioavailability, by providing a long-lasting therapeutic depot. Upon administration via intracameral or subconjunctival injection, the hydrogel undergoes an in situ phase transition to form a solid, biodegradable matrix that slowly releases encapsulated active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) over several weeks or months. GelStor is being utilized in the development of treatments for post-operative inflammation, ocular pain, and glaucoma, offering a biocompatible and dissolvable solution for chronic ocular drug delivery.
