Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Geltim LP is a preservative-free ophthalmic gel formulation of timolol maleate (0.1%), a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist. Developed by Laboratoires Théa, it is specifically indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The formulation is designed for once-daily administration (prolonged release) and is free of preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride, which improves tolerability for patients with sensitive eyes or ocular surface disease. Timolol works by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors on the ciliary epithelium, which reduces the secretion of aqueous humor without significantly affecting pupil size or accommodation.
